Seventeen-year-old Riven is as tough as they come. Coming from a world ravaged by a devastating android war, she has to be. There’s no room for softness, no room for emotion, no room for mistakes. A Legion General, she is the right hand of the young Prince of Neospes, a parallel universe to Earth. In Neospes, she has everything: rank, responsibility and respect. But when Prince Cale sends her away to find his long-lost brother, Caden, who has been spirited back to modern day Earth, Riven finds herself in uncharted territory.

Thrown out of her comfort zone but with the mindset of a soldier, Riven has to learn how to be a girl in a realm that is the opposite of what she knows. Riven isn’t prepared for the beauty of a world that is unlike her own in so many ways. Nor is she prepared to feel something more than indifference for the very target she seeks. Caden is nothing like Cale, but he makes something in her come alive, igniting a spark deep down that goes against every cell in her body. For the first time in her life, Riven isn’t sure about her purpose, about her calling. Torn between duty and desire, she must decide whether Caden is simply a target or whether he is something more.

Faced with hideous reanimated Vector soldiers from her own world with agendas of their own, as well as an unexpected reunion with a sister who despises her, it is a race against time to bring Caden back to Neospes. But things aren’t always as they seem, and Riven will have to search for truth. Family betrayals and royal coups are only the tip of the iceberg. Will Riven be able to find the strength to defy her very nature? Or will she become the monstrous soldier she was designed to be?

Action packed to the brim, this story will unleash the strength of a girl who strikes fear into the very hearts of all who glance her way... not to mention those who see her in their last living moments. The cover is stunning, it appears electrified and dangerous instantly grabbing your attention; not to mention the amazing advance technology!

Riven was born into a world of advance technology, physics, nano-science and war. They are taught how to fight for their lives before they can speak, constantly at attention for a surprise attack. But Riven is stronger than the others and at the age of fourteen was ranked as a Legion General, she strikes fear into all. But when she agrees to save her Best Friend aka. Prince Cale, she must go into uncharted territory; Earth where many have been known to die. However, after three years when she finally finds Caden, she begins to struggle with sticking to her mission. But when her sister and the Vector soldiers appear, it becomes a dangerous game of an adapted version of cat and mouse.

Riven is a brutal character, with all feelings concealed and dealt with after a mission, she is a danger to all those who encounter her; no wonder all full grown commanders are afraid of her! Additionally, beneath all her strength and power, you can see a girl who has locked away her feelings from her sisters betrayal and mothers death and just doing what she has to do to survive and not displease her father. She is persistent and is very clever with great knowledge, especially survival. Furthermore, she is loyal in ways and it is pleasing to see her friendship with Caden and the way she was finally beginning to let her human feelings slightly envelop her.

The plot of this story was engaging; sometimes I felt like I knew what was going to happen and then it would spin and take me in another direction, amazing! However, I did find some moments especially confusing, for example when they all talking about the physics and technology I felt a little like Caden was feeling at the time. However, this is a powerful story that is action-packed with lots of suspenseful fight scenes that will keep you on edge but supporting Riven. You will not be able to stop until you reach the very end.

And the Vectors... lets just say you NEVER want to encounter one of them. Their power is immediately dominant and you know that they will fight till the first one is dead; not to mention they are already dead!
